July 1, 2009

The Rocket Motorsports team has returned from California. The car successfully completed all events. We placed 15th out of 84 registered teams. The team would like to thank all of our sponsors who helped make our 2009 car a success. Check out the the latest photos!

February 11, 2009

The team is making good progress on the car. The chassis is in the finishing stages while powertrain is working on getting the engine dyno up and running. The electrical team is testing a new traction control system and also working on data acquisition. Be sure to monitor the cars progress through our webcam!

The team travelled to Fostoria, OH to compete in a SCCA autocross. The team's prospective drivers gained driving experience and learned the pressures of a competition based environment.

October 6, 2008

The team registered today for the Formula SAE Michigan event. The number for the new 2009 car will be #52.

September 27, 2008

The final design of UT09 is nearing completion with all major subsystems finalized. Manufacturing has begun and the chassis is beginning to take shape with components and material for all other systems starting to arrive in the Autolab. Stop by and check out the progress.

April 18, 2008

The team attended The SAE World Congress on April 14th-17th at the Cobo Center in Detroit, MI. Also during this event, we attend the Detroit Section meeting featuring the all new Dodge Challenger. Please visit the updated photo section for pictures from this event.

The team are busy preparing the new car for paint this week, look for completed picks in the next week or two. We would also like to thank PURE TUNING of Toledo for their help with dyno access!

The new car is up and running! The team put in a lot of hard work the past few days and successfully completed their first run! Due to the weather and snow outside, the run took place inside. Feel free to check out the video in the under the media page.

November 1, 2007

The Team will again be attend two competitions this year as Car #8 at Formula SAE located at Michigan International Speedway in May, and Car #5 at Formula SAE West at California Speedway in June! The team is currently seeking additional funds to aid with the traveling cost associated with these two events. Also, the new car is taking shape with the chassis nearly complete and many other parts are currently being fabricated. Be sure to check out the Media page with updated pictures and videos!

The Rocket Motorsports Team would like to extend a Thank You to Goodyear for hosting The Goodyear Shootout this past weekend. It was a great event for the team as well as many others. Toledo finished 3rd in acceleration, 11th in Skidpad, 8th in Autocross, but failed to finish endurance due to a fuel pressure problem.

September 17, 2007

The team traveled to the Ohio FSAE Shootout this past weekend bringing home the top 2 spots, and also had the Fastest Time of the Day!! Other teams there included Ohio State, Cincinnati, and Cedarville.

June 18, 2007

The University of Toledo just returned from a successful trip to FSAE West in California! The team earned its highest ever finish by placing 5th overall! Other scores include:

  • Cost: 17th
  • Presentation: 16th
  • Skidpad: 4th
  • Acceleration: 20th
  • Autocross: 17th
  • Endurance/ Fuel Economy: 1st
The team also received 1st place in the Goodyear Excellence in Endurance award, 1st place in the Timkin Friction Management award, and 3rd place in Honda Dynamic Events award!

May 7, 2007

The University of Toledo just finished a successful trip to FSAE East at the Ford Proving Grounds in Romeo, Michigan. The team finished a best ever at East competition 8th place overall! Other results include:

  • Cost: 6th
  • Presentation: 46th
  • Design: 80 pts
  • Skidpad: 14th
  • Acceleration: 20th
  • Autocross: 18th
  • Endurance/ Fuel Economy: 8th

The University of Toledo has made it in the February Edition of Road & Track magazine! Go to you local store and look for the University of Toledo FSAE team! Progress is going very well in the SAE lab. Stop by of check out the webcam to see what we are up to!

June 17, 2006

Congrats UT FSAE Team for a 7th place overall finish! Results of each individual event include:

  • Design: 27th
  • Acceleration: 12th
  • Endurance/Fuel Economy: 6th
  • Cost: 5th
  • Skid Pad: 11th
  • Presentation: 17th
  • Autocross: 5th
The team was also invited to participate in the Road & Track Shootout along with Texas A&M, University of Wollongong, Michigan State, and University of Kansas. Look for the FSAE team this summer with three other cars at the local SCCA autocrosses.

The team placed 17th overall out of 140 registered schools. Holding on to Top finishing Ohio school status. Other finishes include:
