Duration:- April 2001- May 2002 County:- Lorain Abstract:- Supports participation by 315 Kindergarten students and 16 teachers in the Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment (GLOBE) program, collecting data on local atmospheric and environmental conditions to share via the internet with more than 9000 supporting schools worldwide, and federal agencies monitoring climate change. Kindergartners taking measurements will be escorted and assisted by up to 90 seventh grade students also participating in GLOBE at Westwood Junior High. Teacher training, instructional materials, technical support and website are already in place; mini grant provides a secure atmospheric study site for installation of weather monitoring instruments.

Amount:- $4982.06 Duration:- Oct 1999- Sept 2000 Counties:- Franklin, Lucas and Muskingum Abstract:- Provides workshops on recent changes to lead hazard disclosure requirements for remodelers and renovators working on older homes, and the consumers who contract their services, in Columbus, Toledo and Zanesville. Workshops will provide information on problems caused by distributing lead-based paint, safe removal and disposal practices, and mechanisms to comply with disclosure requirements governing renovators and remodelers as well as consumers buying, selling and renting homes. Collaborators include the National Association of the Remodeling Industry and lead Safe Columbus.

Duration:- August 2000-June 2001 County:- Franklin Abstract:- Provides field sampling and classroom analysis equipment to incorporate the GLOBE program into the 9th and 10th grade science curriculum of an urban high school. Students collect data on local atmospheric and environmental conditions according to scientific protocols. Results are then posted to an international web database developed by NOAA, for comparisons with satellite data and data from other schools in a number of counties.

Duration:- December 1999-December 2000 County:- Statewide Abstract:-Develops a "Self-Help Guide to Environmentally Sound Chemical Operations" manual for the chemical industry, designed to be useful to small operators. Includes available pollution prevention resources. Provides regional workshops and training on the use of the manual to more than 100 companies with 226 facilities. The OEEF grant supplements $48,500 in funding from the Ohio Air Quality Development Authority (OAQDA). Guide is now available online at www.ohiochemistry.org.
