Dr. Ana C. Alba-Rubio received a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Málaga, Spain in 2007. She then moved to the Institute of Catalysis and Petrochemistry (Spanish National Research Council, CSIC) in Madrid, Spain to pursue doctoral studies under the supervision of Dr. Manuel López Granados. Her Ph.D. focused on base and acid catalysis for biodiesel production from vegetable oils. After receiving her Ph.D., Dr. Alba-Rubio joined the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison to conduct postdoctoral research under the supervision of Prof. James A. Dumesic and Prof. Manos Mavrikakis. She focused on the controlled synthesis of metal, bimetallic and bifunctional catalysts for reaction of interest in biomass conversion and for the direct synthesis of H2O2 from H2 and O2. In 2015, she joined the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering at the University of Toledo as an Assistant Professor.

Godfred Owusu

PhD Student

Godfred grew up in Accra, Ghana. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, Ghana. As an undergraduate, he completed internships with the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation. His research as an undergraduate centered on the development of the Jubilee Oil field in Ghana.

Subhash Kalidindi

MS Student

Subhash received his B. Tech in Chemical Engineering from Amrita University, India in 2015. As an undergraduate, he conducted research in Professor Duraisamy Kumerasan’s lab in extraction of phenolic compounds from coal tar using ionic liquids. He also did research in the field of rheology at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras as a part of a research internship. He has interned at Foster Wheeler Ltd and attended in-plant training at various companies, including East India distilleries Ltd and Hindustan Organic Chemicals Ltd.

Sulaiman Dhameri Undergraduate Student

Sulaiman grew up in Jubail, Saudi Arabia. He earned his Associate degree in Polymer Engineering from Jubail Industrial College, Jubail Industrial City, Saudi Arabia. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering with minors in Chemistry  from the University of Toledo, and will graduate in December, 2017. As an undergraduate student, he has completed three co-op rotations with Sabic Company in the petrochemical field, and Madden company in the fertilization field at Jubail Industrial City.

Michael Kessler Undergraduate Student

Michael Kessler is originally from Sandusky, OH and will be graduating from the University of Toledo in Fall 2017 with a Bachelors in Chemical Engineering and minors in Chemistry and Business Administration. As an undergraduate, Michael has completed four co-op rotations with DuPont and The Chemours Company in Belle, WV. Outside of the classroom he enjoys playing card games and swimming on the University of Toledo Swim Club. Michael looks forward to his last couple semesters here at UT and pursuing a full-time position next year.

Makenna Salsbury Undergraduate Student

Makenna Salsbury is from Wapakoneta, Ohio. She is a senior chemical engineering student, graduating in the fall of 2017. She has completed three co-op rotations: one with Potash Corporation in Lima, Ohio, one with BP in Blaine, Washington, and one with BP in Toledo, Ohio. She looks forward to working in the lab this semester.

Alec Prokay Undergraduate Student

Alec Prokay is a senior chemical engineering undergraduate student. He is looking forward to graduating in Fall 2017. He is interested in research because he wants to see what other career paths may exist aside from working in industry. He enjoys running and cooking in his free time. He hopes to gain valuable lab practices and applications.

Jared grew up in Lordstown, Ohio, and graduated with honors in 2012. While at the University of Toledo, he has been very involved on campus as a member of Student Government and UT Engineering Council.  Jared has completed four co-op rotations with GE Lighting, helping to improve the LFL manufacturing process.
