LIVIU C. LUCA
Liviu C. Luca graduated with Ph.D. degree in Manufacturing Engineering from The University of Toledo, MIME Department. He received his M.Sc. Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Technical University "Gh. Asachi" of Iasi, Romania. For his Master thesis he studied the Wormed Mills for Machining Helical Rotors.
After 1987 graduation, he worked as a Designing Engineer in the Tools and Manufacturing Devices Department of the Special Tools and Accessories Plant in Pascani, Romania. He performed a six-month working stage as Design Engineer at Miteco Co., in Iasi, on building equipment (concrete mixer machines). He, also, benefit of a three-month doctoral specialization stage at the Strathclyde University at Glasgow, Scotland, U.K.
Since September 1990 he joined the Machine Manufacturing Engineering Department at the Technical University of Iasi as a Teaching Assistant and, since 1992, as an Assistant Professor. He taught classes in Manufacturing Technology, Non-Traditional Technology, Fine Stamping, and Cold Plastic Deformation. His selected list of published papers contains 18 titles.
In January 2000 he joined the MIME Department working as a Research Assistant. He is performing research for the Single Point Burnishing of Hardened Steel project.
His research interests in the PMMC were focused on studying the burnishing process as applied to hardened steels by using a high-pressure (6000 psi) supported ceramic ball.
