MistAWAY™

MistAWAY™  is a  system that eliminates the coolant mist from the enclosed working area of modern machine tools.  This piece of equipment was developped by Metal Working Process Management Before MistAWAY™ when the machine-tool enclosure doors are closed there is too much suction, and because the air isn't filtered very well, lots of contaminants are unnecessarily blown around the shop. When the operator opens the door to change a part, there isn't enough suction and he or she gets a face full of coolant mist as it billows out of the machine into the shop.

MistAWAY™ eliminates a lot of disadvantages.  When the machine doors are closed, MistAWAY™ runs just fast enough to prevent mist from escaping from the machine enclosure by creating a slight negative air pressure. When the machining cycle ends and the coolant shuts off, MistAWAY™ senses the "end of cycle" and over speeds for a preprogrammed time to greatly increase the rate of mist removal. Virtually no mist escapes and the operator has greatly reduced exposure.

MistAWAY™ have the following technical capabilities:

  1. Programmable

    1. Usually, a pump carry out the mist of the machine enclosure at a constant speed.; when the sliding doors are closed there is too much suction, so the effectiveness of eliminating the mist is diminished. When the doors are sliding off the machine environment is foggy.

This unit is programmable by being connected at the ChipBUSTER computer. When the machine doors are closed MistAWAY runs at low power just to prevent mist from escaping from the inside-of-machine environment toward outside. This vacuum can be controlled. When the machining cycle ends MistAWAY increase the speed of the rotating ventilator for 10 seconds, just 10 seconds before opening the sliding doors.

  2. Filterage System
    1. It has four filters from inlet to outlet (ground filter, two condensers and a electrostatic filter). The electrostatic filter need to be changed twice a year for $80, the other three filters need to be washed out only.

  3. Drain off

The condensed fluid is drained off in ChipBUSTER tank.

  1. Programmable Pressures

                    0.5 to 30 PSI

  1. Size:

                    Length: 1.25 m ; width: 0.5m; height: 0.8 m

This piece of equipment is curently attached to the Mori Seiki Lathe  to assure the filtration of the enclosed working area of this machine tool.
