ChipBUSTER™
ChipBUSTER is a high pressure high volume (HP/HV) system developped by Metal Working Process Management. Machines cut faster (30-50%) while producing better surface finish. The tool wear is improved, also, twice. The pressure of the coolant jet help the chip to be broken fast. There is no high temperature involved, as there is no long-time friction between the chip and the tool. The chips are "9"- shaped. The system is showing increased advantages when hardness of material is high ("gummy" materials).
ChipBUSTER have the following technical capabilities:
(1) Programmable Pressures: 500 to 2000 PSI
ChipBUSTER completely control the pressure. It can be programmed from the machine tool control with "M" codes or programmed at the ChipBUSTER control to any pressure within the range. Nevertheless, during a machining process, only one normal-pressure and ONLY ONE high-pressure values can be CNC changed.
(2) Variable Volume: 10 to 50 liters per minute (LPM).
OutletsChipBUSTER automatically pumps enough volume to maintain full pressure, as it has a pressure sensor at the end of piping system. The computerized control provides the correct volume automatically.
It has two outlets that operate independently. Can operate two turret lathes, independently.
(4) Cross-Over filtration to 1 Micron (5 micron is standard)
The ChipBUSTER is equipped with two filter elements monitored continually by the computer. The system will not allow a careless operating procedure to damage the machine or the tool because of coolant problems (it’ll shut down the main power). The second filter automatically takes over when the first filter is dirty. This allows regularly scheduled maintenance to service filters.
(5) Interaction with the Machine Tool
"M" code controlled
Low-coolant alarm (in the ChipBUSTER)
Low-coolant alarm (in the machine tool)
Low-pressure alarm
Dirty-filter alarm
(6) Size:
Length: 1.5 m ; width: 1 m ; height: 1 m
This piece of equipment is curently attached to the Mori Seiki Lathe to assure the high pressure coolant for the project "Single Point Burnishing of Hardened Steel" Project.
