Welcome to the College of Engineering Office of Research and Graduate Studies. This page will provide information about graduate programs within the college.

Master of Science

The College of Engineering (COE) at the University of Toledo (UT) offers the following Master of Science (M.S.) degrees through its departments:
M.S. of Bioengineering;
M.S. in Chemical Engineering;
M.S. in Civil Engineering;
M.S. in Electrical Engineering;
M.S. in Industrial Engineering;
M.S. in Mechanical Engineering;
M.S. in Engineering with a concentration in General Engineering;
M.S. in Engineering with a concentration in Computer Science.
The M.S. program is designed to prepare students for research and advanced engineering careers. The COE offers the M.S. in three different configurations:
  • The coursework-only option requires 36 semester hours for completion.
  • The Project option offers the student an opportunity to undertake an advanced engineering project. This program requires 24 semester hours of courses plus a 6-hour project.
  • The Thesis option offers the students a research experience as part of their advanced studies. This program requires 21 semester hours of courses plus a 9-hour thesis.
The M.S. in Engineering program with a concentration in General Engineering offers an integration of engineering, business and elective courses.

Doctor of Philosophy

The College of Engineering (COE) at the University of Toledo (UT) offers Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees through the Departments of Bioengineering; Chemical and Environmental Engineering; Civil Engineering; Electrical Engineering and Computer Science; and Mechanical, Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering.

The Doctor of Philosphy program is designed for those planning research-oriented industrial or academic careers to pursue professional engineering practice for the advancement of science, engineering and technology. The program requires a qualifying examination, a minimum of 90 semester credit hours (60 semester credit hours beyond the master's degree) of course work and dissertation work.
