Mechanical Engineering Technology Mission Statement

The mission of the Mechanical Engineering Technology program is to provide an outstanding undergraduate educational program emphasizing sound application of scientific and engineering knowledge combined with technical skills to produce graduates who will become responsible, ethical and contributing leaders in industry and government with the lifelong learning skills necessary to keep abreast of advancing technology.

Learning Objectives

Upon graduation from the Mechanical Engineering Technology program, the student is expected to:

  • Be educated in the fundamentals and practices of the chosen discipline
  • Apply mathematics, science and technology to present-day situations
  • Think critically and apply creative problem-solving techniques in the area of specialization
  • Be knowledgeable about the tools (hardware and software) used in solving problems in the discipline
  • Possess skills to effectively work in teams
  • Possess those skills necessary to communicate effectively
  • Be prepared for career growth through lifelong learning and self-improvement
  • Understand the responsibilities of the professional in the chosen discipline
