Research Interests

Dr. Shenai is regarded as one of the leading international authorities on power semiconductor materials and devices, and power electronics circuits. His other research interests are RF/microwave power amplifiers, low-power mixed signal ICs, chip-scale power management, smart sensors, wireless sensor networks, and development of biomedical instrumentation including minimally invasive robotic surgical systems.


Brief Biography

Dr. Shenai has over 30 years of combined industry, research, academic, consulting and entrepreneurial experience. His research is primarily focused on the physics and technology of semiconductor devices and circuits, and their applications in electrical signal and power processing systems. Dr. Shenai has made seminal contributions to power semiconductor materials, devices and circuits. He is best known for pioneering semiconductor metallization, low-voltage discrete power MOSFETs, synchronous rectifiers, high-density power supplies, wide bandgap semiconductor materials and power devices, soft-switching power devices, high-density power converters, and power semiconductor reliability. For his contributions, Dr. Shenai has received many teaching, research and professional awards. He is a Fellow of IEEE, a Fellow of AAAS, a Fellow of IETE (India), a Distinguished Lecturer of IEEE Electron Devices Society, University Scholar of the University of Illinois, and a member of the Serbian Academy of Engineering. Dr. Shenai is a named inventor in 12 issued US patents and 40+ international patents, and has authored or co-authored over 350 peer-reviewed publications, mostly in IEEE journals and conferences. He has also contributed to 10 invited book chapters and edited 4 books. Dr. Shenai is a seasoned entrepreneur and has founded and managed two venture-financed startup companies to successful liquidation events.
