Research Interests
Performance and Reliability modeling of computer and communication networks, Adaptive scheduling and resource reservation protocols. Routing protocols and security in wireless internet and mobile ad hoc networks.

Biography
Dr. Alam received the B.S. in Electrical Engineering with honors from AMU Aligarh, India in 1969. He received the M.E. and Ph.D. degrees from IISc. Bangalore, in 1971 and 1974 respectively. He served as the Graduate Director of the EECS Department from 1996 -- 1998 and the Undergraduate Director of the CSE program from 1998 -- 2001.

- 2008 EECS Teacher of the year.
- 2008 College of Engineering Outstanding Teacher award.
- 2006 IEEE Engineer of the year award of the Toledo Section of the IEEE.
