    Introduction

For slides or handouts from Powerpoint that are very large, printing can be a hassle. Large presentations with big and heavy backgrounds take a lot of printer ink and a lot of processing and printing time. There are several methods which can be used to reduce time and ink wastage. Step 1 shows how to make sure the color background is not printed. Step 2 shows how to print more than one slide per page which will reduce number of pages used.

    Step 1

Open your powerpoint presentation. Go to File -> Print.

Under Color/Grayscale, choose 'Grayscale'. This reduces the file size sent to the printer by 2-6 times.

    Step 2

Under Print What, choose 'Handouts'. In the handouts section, that just got activated, choose '6' or '9' for Slides per page. As long as you have just text on the slide this works fine. But if you have graphs or scanned pictures, you might want to lower the number of slides down to '3' or '2'.

Make sure you do a print preview of the page to make sure you are not printing unnecessary data.
    Then hit 'Print'!
