How to forward Mail from your Engineering to Another Account


Introduction

This document demonstrates how easy it is to configure your Engineering account to have its mail forwarded to another location.

Forwarding Messages with Webmail

  1. Visit https://webmail.eng.utoledo.edu/ and log in with your engineering ID.
  2. In the left pane, expand the Mail option.
  3. Click on the Forwards link under the Mail option.

To begin forwarding or update your mail forwarding:

  1. Select the Set/Install a forward radio button
  2. Type the email destination you would like your messages forwarded to in the provided text box.
  3. Type your engineering account's password in the text box labeled "Your Password:" and click submit.
  4. Verify the page now says "Forward is set!" and "Forwarding is currently enabled."
  5. NOTE To keep a copy of your email on the Engineering Server, ensure the "Keep a copy in your local mailbox?" box is checked.
To stop forwarding your messages:
  1. Select the Unset/remove a forward radio button
  2. Type your engineering account's password in the text box labeled "Your Password:" and click sbumit.
  3. Verify the page now says "Forward removed!"

Windows Lab Machine

  1. On the Desktop double click the Forward Eng. Email.



  2. Click on "Manage Forwarding".



  3. In the dialog box, enter the email address you want your mail forwarded to and click "Add".
    Repeat this step for all address you want to forward your e-mail to.
    NOTE To keep a copy of your email on the Engineering Server you need to add your Engineering e-mail to the forwarding list.


  4. Then click "Apply", then "Close", and then "Cancel".
  5. Your Engineering e-mail will now be forwarded to the new address(es).


Unix Machine or Windows Machine at Home

  1. Connect to the engineering server using the instructions located here.
    (Note: For Windows, please follow the instructions on how to log in "From Your Windows Machine At Home")
  2. At the command prompt (example green.eng.utoledo.edu% ) type "forwardmail newaddress" where newaddress is the address to which you want your e-mail delivered. If you would like to forward to more than one e-mail you need to separate the addresses by a comma and just a comma (see example below).
    Example(s):
    • forwardmail username@myHost.com
    • forwardmail username@myHost.com,username2@secondHost.com
    NOTE To keep a copy of your e-mail on the Engineering Server you need to add your Engineering e-mail address to the forwarding list.
  3. Your e-mail will now be forwarded to these address(es).


Instructions for Faculty/Staff Office Computers

  1. If you do not have your engineering home directory (your "U:\" drive) mounted, follow the instructions on this page to mount your U: drive and the P: drive. Otherwise, skip to step 2.
  2. Go to Start -> Run and type "p:\utilities\ForwardMail.exe" (without the quotes) and click OK. If prompted for user credentials, enter "ECC_SAMBA\username" (without the quotes) where username is your Engineering account username and enter your Engineering account password. If prompted with a security warning that the publisher could not be verified, click "Run".
  3. Click on "Manage Forwarding"
  4. Enter the e-mail address you want the e-mail forwarded to (i.e. your UTAD e-mail address) in the space provided and click the Add button.
    NOTE To keep a copy of your e-mail on the Engineering Server you need to add your Engineering e-mail address to the forwarding list.
  5. Click Apply, then Close, and then exit the program.
  6. Your Engineering e-mail will now be forwarded to the e-mail address(es) you specified above.
