Information regarding printing/print quota
Printing, Print Quotas

Each user is provided print quota of 2000 black and white laser printed pages each semester they pay the Engineering Technology fee. Each user is responsible to ensure printable material is sent to the printers. Errors in printing improper file types are at the user's expense. Because users typically attempt to print the same job several times before being convinced that the print system is malfunctioning, and because the print service has a cost to the user, all pending jobs are purged after the print service is restored.

NOTE: One page of color printout taken using the color printer at NI 1013 counts as 2 pages of your print quota!!

NOTE: While printing using the color plotter at NI 1013, the print quota is calculated based on the size of the plot

Print quota can be increased by increments of 50 copies for $5.00. (This can be done with the secretary in NI 1010.) Any print quota remaining at the end of the semester, up to a maximum of 2000 copies, is carried forward and added to the print quota for the next semester. Print quota is carried over the summer and for any semester when a student is offically registered with the co-op office as being on co-op that semester. When a student graduates or fails to register for a Fall or Spring semester, all unused copies are forfeited and there is no refund or credit for unused copies.

Currently, for a job submitted from a PC, the only alternative to stop an already processing print job is to take the printer off line and notify a consultant that you would like your job cancelled. The consultant would then have to clean the queue.

Always preview output before printing to avoid wasting print quota. If you are not certain of the contents of a file do not print it. Sending an executable or database file to the printer prints one or two nonsense characters at the top of each page and can consume your entire print quota. Such an error is the user's mistake and the user must purchase additional copies once the print quota is used.

One box of paper (5000 sheets) is consumed each day of the week during the academic year.
