Tips for Career Day: Student Guide For A Successful Career Day

	1. Dress Nicely.
		MEN: Suit or slacks, jacket & nice shirt, no sneakers WOMEN: Dress, skirt & blouse or suit, comfortable shoes
	2. Go to the employer stations and introduce yourself.
	3. Utilize open-ended questions (suggestions provided below).
	4. Bring sufficient copies of your resume.
	5. THIS IS THE TIME TO BE CREATIVE AND ASSERTIVE! Take advantage of this opportunity to speak to as many agencies/corporations as possible.


Sample "Ice-Breaking" Questions To Ask

	1. Hello, my name is ____. What job opportunities exist with your agency/corporation (summer jobs, internships, entry-level professional, etc.)? 2. I am a (state your class, majoring in) researching career options for myself. What opportunities within your organization exist for my major? 3. My name is ____. I’m very interested in your agency. Can you tell me about your training programs? 4. I plan to interview with you through The Career Center during this semester. Do you have printed materials on your agency/corporation that you can share with me? 5. What are some of the current employment needs of your agency/corporation? 6. Does your agency/corporation have internships? How do I apply for internships or summer jobs with your agency/corporation? 7. What does your agency/corporation weigh most when selecting job candidates? Grades? Major? Extracurricular activities? 8. Hello, my name is ____ and I am a ____ major.
