On 27 June 2009, the IEEE Member and Geographic Activities Board (MGA) recognized the IEEE University of Toledo Student Branch of the IEEE Toledo Section as a recipient of the 2008 MGA Student Branch Membership Growth Award for success in member recruitment and retainment for Region 4.

Each year, a Student Branch in each Region is recognized as having achieved the highest rate of growth. The greatest level of growth is based on a composite rating, considering growth in numbers and percentage, relative to other Student Branches within each Region. Each recipient shall receive an animated graphic noting this achievement which can be displayed on the Student Branch's web site.
