Welcome to the Center for Materials and Sensor Characterization (CMSC)
The Center for Materials and Sensor Characterization is located in the Main Campus in North Engineering building. This facility will be used for microstructural, chemical and thermal characterization in the fields of materials, biological and environmental sciences. The facility houses "state of the art" electron microscopes and various other characterization instruments. This will be a "user facility" open to anyone in the university research community, users from other neighboring universities, users from industries and other organizations. This laboratory will include tools for developing new technologies and providing support for the current characterization needs.
The Center offers professionally managed instrumentation located in two newly constructed laboratories. The heart of the Center is the following three new electron microscopes located in the Electron Microscopy and Materials Characterization Laboratory.
- Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM)
- Scanning Transmission Electron Microscope (STEM)
- Dual Beam Environmental SEM and focussed ion Beam (ESEM/FIB)
