Research Interest
Dr. Pickett has research interests in extreme load safety
analysis of structures and mechanical components. He has directed
five projects which analyzed the response of piping systems to
seismic loads in nuclear power plants. He has developed the
analytical models which were used in the analysis of the response of
these systems to seismic loads. Dr. Pickett has developed a graduate
course in seismic analysis and wind load analysis. He has directed
10 projects that provided professional development and graduate
level credit for math and science secondary-school teachers. This
has involved live Distance Learning courses for teachers throughout
Ohio. These teachers have then taught in various summer schools for
inner-city and migrant students, under Dr. Pickett’s supervision.
